Literature Text

You have me trapped
In a glass box
I scream,
And cry,
And pound the glass.
Longing for escape,
But it is useless.
I am trapped,
Like a caged bird.
So I sit,
In resigned Silence,
My cheek pressed,
Against the cool surface,
Imagining,
The smell of summer rain,
Rescuing the parched earth,
The sound of dead leaves
Disintegrating,
Beneath my bare feet.
The cool kiss of snow,
against my bare skin.
And I long,
To be apart,
Of this mysterious world.
But I am trapped.
And I scream,
And cry,
on the inside.
But on the outside,
I smile,
And laugh,
And pretend,
That I am happy
And it may seem
Like I have forgotten,
My transparent prison,
But on the inside,
I long for the day,
I will be free.
Written on a rainy day with my cheek pressed against the window.
